Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi! I am a Dance and Performance Studies Major at UC Berkeley. I am graduating in Spring of 2022, and hope to continue my studies in the field of clinical psychology. Addiction and substance use are topics that have affected my life deeply, and I am dedicated to helping young people like you gain a better understanding of the ways that addiction may show up in our lives and the lives of the people around you. This course is not about saying no to drugs-- its about understanding why one may become addicted to a substance, and what we can do once that happens.

X780: The Art of Living in a World with Drugs in Splash Fall 2021 (Oct. 30, 2021)
In this course we will explore-- biologically and socially-- the impact of substance abuse and its place in our lives. What is addiction? Has the perception of addiction changed over time? Is there a necessary connection between self and substances? Is addiction a choice or is it premeditated? Does it depend on genetics? Can and should being sober be a goal of living? How can we create the same relationship-- like the feeling of meaning, freedom, pleasure, goodness and satisfaction without substances? Can addiction be cured?
