Hello! My name is Sophia Roy-Burman, and I'm a sophomore from Alameda, CA (go Bay Area!). I’m a Public Health major, super interested in infectious disease and vaccinology. In my free time, I love to hike, play guitar, read, and work out with Cal Triathlon. I'm so excited to share these passions with you through Splash and can't wait to meet you all!

Are you interested in Public Health? Medicine and social behavior? Statistics and the media? Hearing crazy historical facts? Seeing some ridiculous graphics? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions (or even none of them), you should seriously consider taking this class! In this session, we will talk about how vaccines work, the history of the Anti-Vax movement in America, and how vaccine hesitancy has manifested in the time of COVID. We will explore values of personal liberty, government distrust, and social isolation, and we will flesh out how vaccine hesitancy impacts everyone -- from the most privileged to the most disadvantaged.
