Join us as we explore the realm of disability engineering, learning what it means to be
accessible/disability friendly, as well as why accessible engineering is necessary. We aim to put
the students in the shoes of biomedical engineers in order to inspire inclusive thought whilst undermining negative stereotypes or stigma surrounding disability.
E1435: Bright Idea Free of Charge! (Intro to Circuits) in Splash Spring 2025 (Apr. 13, 2025)
Students will be learning about electricity and electrical engineering through hands on activities. This lesson is important because it demonstrates the connection between electricity and
magnetism, which underpins many technologies like motors and electromagnets. Understanding
these concepts helps students grasp how these fundamental principles are applied in real-world
devices.
S1350: Battle of Engineers' Arm Mechanics in Splash Fall 2024 (Nov. 16, 2024)
In this lesson, students will learn about the science behind hydraulic machines and how liquids can be used to generate and transmit power. Students will also engage in hands-on activities to build sumo-robots to practice the engineering design process
S980: Take Off with BEAM! in Splash Fall 2022 (Oct. 29, 2022)
Students will learn about the different fundamental forces that work together to create flight. They will experiment with the effects of these forces of flight using the Engineering Design Process when creating their own rocket launchers, then seeing them at work as we launch bottle rockets high into the air!
